Yes or No Wheel
Can't decide? Ask the wheel — get an instant YES or NO (with an optional Maybe) and settle it.
What happens when you press Ask the wheel
Despite the name, there's no spinning wheel graphic. The answer panel flicks through the possible answers about ten times in 0.7 seconds, then settles on YES or NO, or MAYBE if you ticked Include "Maybe". The final answer is drawn the instant you click, so the flicker is only there for suspense.
The History line under the button keeps your previous 11 answers, the latest on the left, and resets when you leave the page.
The odds, with and without Maybe
Each answer comes from one 32-bit value produced by your browser's cryptographic generator (crypto.getRandomValues), divided by the number of answers. The remainder picks the answer.
- Yes or No: 4,294,967,296 values split into two equal halves, so each answer has exactly a 50% chance.
- With Maybe: three answers don't divide that total evenly. YES gets 1,431,655,766 values and NO and MAYBE get 1,431,655,765 each. Each is 33.33%, and YES is ahead by one value in more than four billion.
So switching Maybe on doesn't just add an option. It cuts the chance of YES from 50% to 33.33%, and the same for NO. Tick or untick the box before you ask, since it applies to the next answer.
Getting an answer you can act on
- Ask one question with two acceptable outcomes. "Should I order pizza tonight?" works. "Pizza or sushi?" doesn't, because NO doesn't tell you which.
- Decide what Maybe means before you ask. For example: wait until tomorrow, or go with the cheaper option. Otherwise a Maybe just sends you back to square one.
- Watch your own reaction. If you feel relieved or let down the moment the answer lands, that tells you what you wanted. You are free to go with that instead.
- Keep it to low-stakes choices. A random answer is fine for where to eat or which film to watch. It is no way to settle anything involving your health, money or other people's welfare.
Frequently asked questions
Does asking the same question again change the odds?+
Not for any single ask: each one is a fresh 50/50, or one in three with Maybe on. But if you keep asking until you get the answer you hoped for, you will usually get it. With Yes and No only, the chance of at least one YES in three asks is 87.5%.
Can I put my own options on the wheel?+
No, the answers are fixed to YES, NO and the optional MAYBE. For your own choices, such as three restaurants or four film titles, use the random name picker and type one option per line.
What are the odds of getting YES twice in a row?+
With only Yes and No, 25%, since each ask is independent and 0.5 × 0.5 = 0.25. With Maybe switched on, it drops to 11.11%, which is one in nine.
