Choosing a business calculator
These calculators answer three recurring questions: what to charge, what you keep after fees and tax, and whether customers and marketing pay for themselves.
Pricing
Profit Margin Calculator takes a price and a cost and gives both the margin and the markup. Markup Calculator works forwards from cost: add a markup percentage and it returns the selling price. Margin is profit as a share of the selling price; markup is profit as a share of cost, so on a profitable sale the markup percentage is always the larger one. Quoting a margin when you mean markup is a common way to underprice. Break-Even Calculator then tells you how many units you must sell before fixed costs are covered.
Fees and tax
PayPal Fee Calculator and Stripe Fee Calculator show what reaches your account after the processor's cut; fee schedules change, so compare the result with the provider's current pricing page. Sales Tax Calculator adds US-style sales tax on top of a price. There is no federal US sales tax, so the rate depends on the state and locality. VAT Calculator adds VAT to a net amount; to find the VAT inside a price that already includes it, divide by one plus the rate rather than multiplying the total by the rate.
Customers and marketing
Customer LTV Calculator and CAC Calculator are most useful side by side: compare what a customer is worth over time with what it costs to win one.
All calculations run in your browser, so your margins and revenue figures stay on your device.
