Delete Pages from PDF

Remove unwanted pages from a PDF — enter the page numbers to delete and download the cleaned file.

Typing the pages to remove

After you pick a file, the tool shows how many pages it has. List the pages to delete using single numbers and hyphenated ranges separated by commas. For a 12-page document, 1, 11-12 deletes the cover and the last two pages and leaves 9 pages: the original pages 2 to 10, in their original order.

The box is pre-filled with 1-3. If you press the button without changing it, the first three pages are deleted. The result downloads as pages-removed.pdf and your original file isn't touched.

When nothing gets deleted

Entries the tool can't read are skipped without a message. If none of what you typed is valid, nothing is removed and you get a full copy of the document. Common causes:

  • Semicolons or the word “and” instead of commas: 2; 5.
  • Backwards ranges: 9-4.
  • Open-ended ranges: 10-.
  • Page numbers beyond the end of the file.

A quick check is to open the download and compare its page count with what you expected. Listing every page doesn't work either: the tool stops with You can't delete every page.

Delete or extract?

Both tools give the same kind of result, so pick whichever is shorter to type. Removing a few pages from a long document is easier here. Keeping 3 pages out of 40 is easier with Extract Pages from PDF, where you type 12-14 instead of 1-11, 15-40.

What the cleaned file leaves out

The tool doesn't edit your PDF in place. It builds a new one from copies of the pages you're keeping. That has a few side effects worth knowing: the sidebar bookmarks are gone, the document title and author are empty, and fillable fields may not behave as a form any more. Comments and web links sitting on the kept pages stay with them.

How to use this tool

  1. 1Choose your file(s).
  2. 2Set the options (pages, rotation, order).
  3. 3Click Process & download — the result downloads instantly.

Frequently asked questions

Can I undo a deletion?+

Your original PDF is never changed, so just run the tool again on the original with a different list.

Can it find and delete blank pages automatically?+

No. It removes only the page numbers you type, so scroll through the document first and note which pages are blank.

Does deleting pages make the PDF smaller?+

Usually. Images and fonts that only appeared on the deleted pages aren't copied into the new file.

Can I delete pages from a password-protected PDF?+

Not reliably. The tool can't decrypt PDFs, so the remaining pages may come out blank or garbled. Remove the protection first with the password, then delete pages from the unlocked copy.
